Individuals who practice yoga know that having a serene environment is one of the few necessities of an enjoyable session. One cannot focus on stretching and strengthening with chaos in the room.
However, it can be easy to create peaceful places for yoga.
For example, if your home is full of guests and visitors, simply seek out an area with at least six feet by six feet of clearance. Get rid of any distractions that may make your mind wander, such as old posters or relics of the past. It may also help to light some soothing incense so the area is filled with a relaxing aroma. (Be sure that there is adequate ventilation when burning incense or candles.)
You may even be able to find an area for yoga or meditation at your office. Perhaps the dead end of a hallway in which there is no foot traffic or an empty office. Just make sure with your boss that this is okay.
Having these serene spaces in your home or workplace may encourage you to practice your mind-body exercises more regularly, perhaps leading to a more peaceful existence.
