Power Brain Kids

Ilchi Lee originated the Brain Education system, which seeks to maximize human potential through a variety of training methods. As president of the Korean Institute of Brain Science and chairman of the International Brain Education Association, Lee has dedicated himself to the nurture and development of the human brain. He is the author of twenty-nine books, most of which focus on the important role of the brain in the creation of a better world for ourselves and our children.

Human beings are unique among the inhabitants of Earth because we are simultaneously Earth-bound and divine. You have probably noticed how vastly human behavior can differ, ranging from the person who gives all in service of others to the one who violently uses and abuses other people. This is because we are simultaneously Earth’s people and heaven’s people. Our upright stature—with our head in the sky and our feet on the ground—is a symbolic reminder of this.

The true self is the part of you that knows there is more to life than just the surface level of this world. It is the part of you that urges you to choose according to your highest self. However, through life we develop more and more attachment to this physical world, and the voice of the true self becomes muffled. Fortunately, we have been given the struggles and obstacles of life to help us remember who we are.

No one likes problems. Nevertheless, all of your problems are a blessing. They all exist to help you realize your true self.

When facing any problem, remember that the problem itself is just an illusion that stems from the false self created by the ego. Most people make the critical error of focusing on the problem itself, which ironically just brings more of the same into being. What really matters is not why or how the problem is happening but your relationship to the problem. One thing is definitely true—you will never be able to hate your problem out of existence. What really matters is your attitude about it. To upgrade your attitude, you must first consider how your brain is operating in relationship to the problem.

Uh-oh! Tips for incontinence

Q: I am a woman in my mid-40s who suffers from incontinence. Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem? Are there any exercises you recommend?

A: Contrary to popular belief, incontinence does not affect only women, such as those in menopause, the elderly or mothers who have just given birth. It can affect women and men of any age. Incontinence usually occurs when pelvic and sphincter muscles become weak, causing the constriction of the urethra to become loose. If the anus and/or vaginal muscles cannot relax and tighten easily, urine can flow unexpectedly. Strengthening these muscles through exercise can be very helpful.

Building Muscles, Ilchi leeAlso, keeping your energy circulation smooth will help prevent incontinence problems. In terms of energy channels, the bladder, vagina, urethra and anus are closely connected to the Kidney and Bladder Meridians. Incontinence is a result of blocked energy circulation in these energy channels.

Also, if the back of the head, neck, shoulders and chest are very tense, your breath may be too shallow, never reaching your lower abdomen. As a result, energy circulation in your bladder and urethra may become very weak, causing one to feel a continuous urge to urinate or a lack of ability to control it. These conditions are tied to mental stress, tension, anxiety and fatigue.

Try the following exercises.
