HEIGHTENED SENSE OF PERCEPTION
The first is the physical ability to perceive subtle changes in the body, our body has the ability to monitor its health and return it to a healthy state. This is our body’s healing capacity. One of the most obvious signs that our physical sense has developed is that our body’s balance and power increase. We have reserves that compensate when we are challenged by some kind of stress, and we have vitality. Our body desires that state. When our physical sense develops, our bodies know that state of balance and seek to maintain it. Mark was able to automatically quit smoking because his physical sense was activated. The meridian exercises, abdominal breathing, meditation, and mox-ibustion introduced in Chapters 4 and 5 are practical techniques that will strengthen this kind of physical sense.
The second way we can experience HSP is through an energy sense that allows us to perceive the flow of energy that permeates the world. Life itself is energy, and energy creates the flow of life that cannot be contained. Energy is ceaselessly in motion, coming together and spreading out and making up all life forms. You, I and all phenomena are ultimately manifestations of energy.
