Prof Ilchi Lee selected this articles about brain or spinal cord
Before inflowing the bath, the patient should drink cold water and also wet the head, neck and shoulders with cold water. A cold compress should be applied during the treatment. This bath can be favorably employed in dropsy when there is unnecessary loss of tone of the heart and blood. The bath should be ended as soon as the skin becomes red.
In pneumonia and suppressed menstruation, the bath should be managed at 37.7º C to 40º C for about 30 to 45 minutes. This bath should be given when the menstruation is due and may be repetitive for two to three days in sequence. In dysmenorrheal, this bath should be given at 38º C to 44.4º C for 15 minutes. In chronic bronchitis a very warm bath taken for 5 to 7 minutes should be go along with resistance and friction. This alleviates overcrowding of the mucous membrane and provides instant relief. After the bath, oil should be applied to the skin if essential. The hot bath should not be taken in cases of organic sickness of the brain or spinal cord, nor in cases of cardiac weakness
or cardiac hypertrophy.
The first is the physical ability to perceive subtle changes in the body, our body has the ability to monitor its health and return it to a healthy state. This is our body’s healing capacity. Ilchi Lee tells that if our body is in need of water, we feel thirsty and look for water. If we are cold, our body shakes to produce heat. If we are hot, our body sweats to cool off. Our immune system takes care of foreign bodies that enter. Even recovering from a cold or the way our skin heals after a cut is a result of this capacity.
One of the most obvious signs that our physical sense has developed is that our body’s balance and power increase. We have reserves that compensate when we are challenged by some kind of stress, and we have vitality. Our body desires that state. When our physical sense develops, our bodies know that state of balance and seek to maintain it. Mark was able to automatically quit smoking because his physical sense was activated. The meridian exercises, abdominal breathing, meditation, and mox-ibustion introduced in Chapters 4 and 5 are practical techniques that will strengthen this kind of physical sense.
The second way we can experience HSP is through an energy sense that allows us to perceive the flow of energy that permeates the world. Life itself is energy, and energy creates the flow of life that cannot be contained. Energy is ceaselessly in motion, coming together and spreading out and making up all life forms. You, I and all phenomena are ultimately manifestations of energy.
Ilchi Lee tells that about four months after I started, I got up in the morning and just like any other day I went into the bathroom and lit up a cigarette. But as soon as I took a drag, I felt nauseated. Thinking it strange, I took another drag and felt so sick that I had to put out the cigarette. My body automatically rejected the cigarette.
It is hard to explain how this change happened. It feels like I suddenly have a very sensitive sensor in my body and mind. This sensor helps me make better choices every moment of my life.
Although there are differences in degree, everyone at some point in their lives has a moment of awakening like Mark. An inherent sense that we have in our bodies turns on. Through these moments, we are able to have a deeper human experience and expand our understanding about the world. I call this internal sensor that Mark talked about a Heightened Sense ot Perception (HSP).
Perception is the process of knowing or being aware of inforrmation through the senses. Through perceptions awareness, discrimination and integration of impressions, conditions, and relationships about objects, images, and feelings are possible. When we have HSP, we have a heightened sensitivity, alertness, and ability to perceive at an expanded level aspects of life that would otherwise not be accessible. There are many ways that we can experience HSP.
SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS IN SEDONA, ARIZONA, I heard this from a man whom I will call Mark:
About two years ago, I bad a stroke. The stroke left me with serious speaking disabilities and my arm and part of my leg were paralyzed. At the time I had been overwhelmed with stress and fatigue while trying to expand my business.
I -was fortunate enough to live through it and go through rehabilitation to recover. Yet, my biggest problem was the fact that I smoked. Smoking is terrible for stroke patients, but even upon hearing from my doctor that I was never to smoke again, I couldn ‘t quit. Ilchi Lee writes that I tried everything. But the thought of a cigarette would stay in my head all day, preventing me from thinking about anything else. I found and took part in many smoking cessation programs, tried nicotine alternatives, and acupuncture. I tried everything, but it seemed I would not be able to quit smoking on my own. Even though I was still suffering/mm the after effects of my stroke, I couldn’t stop my self from smoking a pack a day. My wife griped over the fact that I was incredibly swift and strong with business decisions but could not even quit smoking.
I started Dahnhak training when a personal trainer suggested meditation for relaxing and relieving some of the tension in my life. I went to regular classes twice a week at a Dahn Center nearby. When I was away on business trips, I did meridian exercises and abdominal breathing on my own. And I kept up with meditation practice everyday.
Because the HT toolkit can be beneficial to our families as they strive to positively contribute to and build strong communities, I have tried to put the tools in their hands through the Healing Family Movement.
The Healing Family Movement, powered by HT, is dedicated to providing comprehensive resources for families to flourish, subsequently invigorating the roots of a healthier, more peaceful culture.
The Healing Family Movement supports families in maintaining or regaining their health, strengthening their familial bonds, and creating a robust, balanced life. Through a worldwide network of Dahn, Brain Respiration, and Healing Family Centers, we are creating the infrastructure for a movement to transform the globe. The Resources of this book outlines further HT teaching tools. Moreover, many HT professionals are being trained to further enable families to confidently regain their leadership role.
Enduring families ensure the stability and strength of society. While some alarmists claim the demise of the family, I am quite sure that the seeds of any meaningful societal change will first be sown in our homes.
